Prof. Abubakar O. Sulaiman, the Director-General of the National Institute of Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), has restated the Institute’s commitment to the training of experts in the field of legislative drafting within the country.
This affirmation was conveyed in a communication, preceding the call for application for the commencement of the third batch of NILDS’ internship program for aspiring legislative drafters.
“The comprehensive internship program is strategically designed to enhance the capabilities of candidates in the art of drafting and to cultivate a proficient pool of drafters who can actively contribute to the drafting endeavors of the institute.
“Its fundamental purpose is to provide potential drafters with the requisite aptitude, knowledge, and competencies in legislative drafting.
“This becomes crucial in light of the scarcity of proficient legislative drafting experts in Nigeria and the broader sub-region”, he noted.
The 3rd cycle of the Institute’s Internship program for legislative drafters is set to hold between September-November, 2023 and January-March, 2024.
